If anyone is interested in volunteering to park cars during the History Expo on Saturday, June 16 and/or Sunday, June 17 please contact Baxter Doty at 889-3461. His snowmobile club gets paid for doing this and the money goes towards club needs.
Hello, this is a reminder of your subscription to the Tunbridge Women's Group email list and discussion archive.
Instructions for emailing
To send a message to everyone, using the email address you use for this list, send an email to . . .
tunbridgewomensgroup@posterous.com
. . . and automagically two things will happen:
1. your message will be sent as an email to all members, and
2. it will be added to the online archive at our website.
Optional: you can create a login account using the links on the right side of the homepage -- this will reduce the anonymity of the list and you will also have the ability to update your own email address if it changes in the future.
Ideas for emails
The goal of the list is to contribute to our ability to communicate as a community; here are some ideas of things you might consider posting here:
announcements of community events open to the public
invitations to concerts, plays, informal gatherings
announcements by town organizations
weather cancellations of town, school, community events
items for sale or wanted by Tunbridge residents
rides sought or offered (Gifford, WRJ)
living spaces for rent or sought
lost or found pets
A few guidelines
Some helpful “netiquette” suggestions:
Subject line:
For a new message, enter a short subject line to help readers see your topic at a glance.
If you are replying to a message, keep the same subject line as the original post.
Attachments: Do not include them when emailing the list. Subscribers to this list use a huge variety of different email software and many cannot handle attachments. If a photo or other attachment is important to your post, ask people who want the photo to contact you directly, and send the photo directly to those who request it.
Privacy: It is inappropriate to post the content of any private correspondence without the permission of each correspondent involved. Be cautious when forwarding and replying.
For more fun tips on participating in communities online, see Wikipedia on the topic of netiquette.

From the plant sale committee:
Help needed Friday-Monday at the plant sale to benefit the library:
First priority is Saturday transportation of plants to the parsonage lawn. About 9am.-whenever, probably around noon time. We can use drivers to transport pots and unloaders at the field. Call Liz Guth 889-3746 or Carol Frenier 685-3811 to sign up or just show up.
We could also use one more person to help Pam Dietz, Liz and Carol lay out the field on Friday afternoon. And if anyone knows a strong, young male who could work from 1pm. to about 4pm. Friday making holes for the plant stakes, that would be fabulous. Let Carol know.
If anyone would like to volunteer to stand guard over the plants (and do odd jobs) between about 2p.-5pm., or whenever Ben and the sleepover team gets there, on either Saturday or Sunday, we would greatly appreciate the relief. Ann Leeds next door graciously keeps an eye out during this time, but if someone would volunteer that would relieve her.
If you know any late elementary or middle school students who would be willing to help customers on Monday morning (8:45am.-12 or until the parade starts), tell Elaine Howe, Janet Zug or Carol.
Thanks.

Subject: Shhh... Quiet campaign to save a historic barn
On Route 110 in Tunbridge, Vermont there sits a barn that has been there since about 1840. This massive 40 by 70 foot structure sits on a base of fieldstone and is constructed of hand hewn posts and beams. During the winter of 2011, excessive snow loads cracked five posts, putting it at risk for demolition as the cost of repair is substantial. As the homeowners do not have the funds available to make the necessary repairs to save this incredible structure, they have turned to the general public for financial assistance. I imagine that the decision to go to the public was not an easy one as the homeowners are of the extremely private, 'do it ourselves' type, and would have done just about anything to avoid asking for assistance. This is also likely why you haven't received a direct appeal from them asking for your help. So, I am stepping in and emailing you because I believe in this project and preserving history, but can't fund it all myself. The tricky part is that the homeowners are my sister, husband and three children, and I think it could be a little awkward if she learns that I am reaching out to the people in my life for their donations. That is why I am asking for a little bit of secrecy on how you found out about the project. Would you please take a moment, look at the project she has created at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/686834347/barn-again-vermonts-another-button-farm and determine if it is worth your support? You may think that your $5 or $10 is not enough to make a difference, but in this case it truly could be just the amount that is needed to save this amazing historical structure. Thank you!
Lorinda
